Each year in New York City, about 50 infants die from preventable, sleep-related injuries. To increase awareness about the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and enhance the safety of infants in shelter, the New York City Department of Homeless Services (OHS) follows the procedures and training requirements outlined below within the fam ilies with children shelter system.
