GIS 05 MA/021: Earned Income Disregard (EID)
This GIS advises local districts of the revision of the Earned Income Disregard (EID) to 54%, effective June 1, 2005. Effective June 1, 2005, the EID will change from 53% to 54% of earned income.  The poverty levels used to calculate the EID reflect those published in the Federal Register in February 2005. As required by Social Services Law Section 366 (1) (a) (8), Medicaid uses the TANF standards as they existed on November 1, 1997. Medicaid uses the November 1, 1997 shelter allowances in calculating the EID. The EID for TANF recipients is a different percentage because Temporary Assistance (TA) uses different shelter standards.
