General Information System (GIS) message GIS 04 MA/027, “Interest/Dividend Income Exclusion for SSI-related Applicants/Recipients,” dated November 8, 2004, informed local departments of social services that interest and dividend income from most resources is excluded from countable income for SSI-related applicants/recipients (A/Rs). One of the exceptions noted in the GIS was that interest/dividend income continues to be countable for SSI- related A/Rs if it is generated by unspent State or local government relocation assistance payments (not federal or federally assisted funds). GIS 04 MA/027, however, did not specify any time limit for this provision....
