The purpose of this release is to inform local social services districts of
a recent amendment to the Mental Hygiene Law, in relation to the appointment of guardians for personal needs and property management for persons who are likely to suffer harm because they are unable to provide for personal needs including food, shelter, health care, or safety and/or are unable to manage property and financial affairs.
