Consistent with the provisions of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) New York State will participate in the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program effective October 1, 1999. The purpose of this interim process is to verify alien eligibility for temporary assistance (Family Assistance, Safety Net, and Emergency Assistance) cases that include aliens. Failure to implement these provisions may result in significant financial penalties to the State and local districts.
