The purpose of this memorandum is to advise local departments of social services (LDSSs) of the availability of approximately $6,761,940 in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Local Assistance Appropriation funding to initiate or continue program modifications and/or services for the purpose of preventing detention use and out-of-home placement in the juvenile justice system for prospective or adjudicated Juvenile Delinquents (JDs) and Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS).
