Federal and state welfare reform acts require that as a condition of eligibility for Cash Assistance (CA), unmarried minor parents/pregnant minors (under 18 years of age) must: • reside with a parent, legal guardian, adult relative or in an adult supervised situation; and • be enrolled in an educational program that will assist in attaining a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED). Unmarried pregnant minors are not required to fulfill educational requirements until the newborn is 12 weeks old.
