#08-41-ELI: Special Mailing: You May Now Be Eligible For Food Stamp Benefits
As of January 1, 2008, New York State expanded the definition of categorical eligibility for the Food Stamp Program. With this change and expansion of policy, the State is exempting all resources from the FS eligibility criteria for households that do not contain any members that are currently sanctioned or disqualified due to an Intentional Program Violation (IPV) for FS and whose income is at, or below 130% of the federal poverty level, or 200% of the poverty level if the household contains an elderly or disabled member.
