#05-30-ELI: Disability Appeals Unit (DAU) Mandatory Call-In Process

As a condition of eligibility for Public Assistance (PA), applicants/participants who are deemed eligible for Federal disability benefits must apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Applicants/participants whose SSI application is denied must appeal the denial decision.

An appeal of the SSI denial must be filed within 60 days of the denial date. Failure to apply for SSI or to comply with the SSI appeal process will result in an individual non-durational pro rata PA sanction. If the appeal period passes and an appeal has not been filed, the participant must file a new SSI application.
