The purpose of this policy bulletin is to inform staff of the expansion of SNAP categorical eligibility. Prior to the expansion, only households whose members all receive Cash Assistance (CA) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) were categorically eligible to receive SNAP benefits. Households that are categorically eligible for SNAP benefits based on their eligibility for CA and/or SSI are not subject to a gross income test (GIT), a net income test (NIT), or a resource test.
