Families that apply for Cash Assistance (CA) on or after October 1, 2009, are no longer required to temporarily assign child support arrears accrued while the household was not in receipt of CA. Child support orders with arrears that have been collected by the Child Support Collection Unit (SCU) on behalf of families in receipt of CA will be disbursed directly to the family. Child support family arrears payments received by the household for two consecutive months will be budgeted against the CA/FS case as unearned income. Families on CA that stop receiving recurring child support family arrears payments will be given a budget adjustment.
