This OAH Procedures Transmittal announced that
Effective August 29, 2012, the name of the Food Stamp Program was changed to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Chapter 41 of the Laws of 2012, signed by the Governor on May 31, 2012, amended Section 95 of the Social Services Law by changing references to the Food Stamp Program to SNAP and Food Stamp benefits to SNAP benefits. This was based on a federal statutory amendment (PL 110-246) that changed the name of the federal program to SNAP effective October 1, 2008. As of August 29, all communications from the department including decisions and letters must refer to SNAP instead of Food Stamps.
