99-18: New York City Eligibility Verification Review (NEVR) Issues for Non Public Assistance Food Stamp (NPA-FS) Recipients (04/16/99)

The Family Independence Administration (the agency that oversees the administration of the Income Support Centers) of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) has sent approximately 150 Notices of Intent to Discontinue or Reduce Food Stamp (FS) benefits to recipients of Non-PA Food Stamps for failure to cooperate with the Eligibility Verification Review (NEVR) process. Until now, the NEVR process has only been applied to PA recipients.

These notices, generated by Non-PA Food Stamp Center 43 (Long Island City), clearly state that the discontinuance or reduction is "per EVR".

It is expected that other Non-PA Food Stamp Centers may generate such notices in the future.
