As a result of a settlement in a class action lawsuit, M.K.B. v. Eggleston, the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) agreed to review the denial or discontinuance of public assistance (Temporary Assistance, Medicaid and/or Food Stamps) for certain non-citizens who have been battered or subjected to extreme cruelty by someone in their household. New issue code 109 has been designated for M.K.B.-related issues.
