This transmittal announced the Transitional Benefit Alternative (TBA) Program, which provides additional Food Stamp (FS) Benefits (for a period of up to three months) to households who leave Family Assistance (FA). Eligible clients are provided a notice when the FA case is discontinued, which also advises them of their eligibility for TBA. They are provided a timely notice when the TBA is discontinued or reduced during the certification period or a recertification call-in notice when the certification period was extended to cover the transition period.
The new Issue Code 403 will be utilized for issues pertaining to the FS TBA program.
