07-09: Referral Number for DETS-related Inquiries (Cash, FS, HEAP) and Out-of-State Inquiries as to Whether NYS Cash Assistance Was Ever Provided (08/09/07)

When appellants or their representatives call for information regarding their cash grant, food stamps, or HEAP, or when they complain about alleged harassment, rudeness, or inappropriate treatment on the part of local district/NYC agency staff, they may be transferred to the newly established Temporary Assistance (TA) Hotline, (518) 473-4499, which will be answered by staff from the Division of Employment and Transitional Supports (DETS).

When other states contact OAH to inquire as to whether an individual is currently on assistance in New York State, they will be instructed to fax their inquiries to DETS staff at (518) 474-8090. State law precludes OTDA from providing such information to other states by telephone.
