II.Position Summary
Empire Justice Center is pleased to announce an opening for a Development Manager. The Development Manager will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts, leadership, and annual donors as well as private foundations in support of the organization’s funding priorities. The Development Manager will also be responsible for special event fundraising as well as annual fundraising campaigns.


III. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Acknowledge all donations in a timely fashion.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual, corporate, and private foundation gifts.
• Prepare development-related content for social media and other publications.
• Plan and implement special events, including friend raisers, fundraisers, and annual galas.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundation representatives.
• Manage donor database as well as all external mailing and online outreach for fundraising campaigns and appeals.
• Support the implementation of comprehensive fund development strategies aligned with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
• Assist in the preparation of reports for External Relations Committee, and Board of Trustees meetings and assist in engaging board members in development-related initiatives.
• Assist the Sr. Grants Manager in working with internal practice groups to identify opportunities for private funding. Draft proposals and assist in managing foundation relationships.
• Attend special events, and public programs to represent the organization, engage with local constituents, and support relationship development. (Some evening and weekend availability for these events is required.)
• Amplify the organization’s mission/story, and programs by gathering stories, testimonials, and photographs to create compelling and engaging outreach and fundraising campaigns that raise revenue and awareness.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor and/or to meet the organization's needs.


IV. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in development, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• Problem Management Skills.
• Ability to work on a team.
• Organizational Skills.
• Document Drafting.
• Microsoft Office.


V. Salary
Salary is dependent on years of experience and based on the organizational pay scale. The beginning salary for this position in the Albany region, with 5 years of experience, is $39,520, and the salary for this position, with 15 years of experience, is $54,080.


The beginning salary for this position in the Long Island region includes a geographic differential. With 5 years of experience, the salary is $48,640, and the salary for this position with 15 years of experience, is $63,200.
