OFFICE LOCATION: Islandia, New York
Duties include representation of low-income debtors in consumer law matters including but not limited to loans, credit cards, medical debt and student loan issues. Attorney will handle the case from intake through investigation, negotiation, trial and appeal as necessary. Attorney is responsible for maintaining required case file, client data and any and all statistical information as required. Participation in community legal education is anticipated.
START DATE: lmmediate SALARY: DOE union scale
REQUIREMENTS: Admission to New York State Bar and admission or eligibility for admission to the Federal Bar. Applicants who have passed the State Bar and are pending admission will also be considered. Applicants who have taken the exam and are waiting to hear the results may be considered. Demonstrated commitment to the goals and clients of the legal services program.
