POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION STAFF ATTORNEY
LEGAL SERVICES OF CENTRAL NEW YORK, INC. (LSCNY)
Position: Legal Services of Central New York, Inc. will hire a staff attorney for the Binghamton office. The position will begin as soon as possible.
Responsibilities: LSCNY has obtained a one-year grant to provide homelessness prevention legal services in Broome County, New York. The staff attorney will help tenants achieve housing stability by securing assistance and resources to avoid homelessness and representing tenants in eviction proceedings in the Binghamton City Court and the Town and Village Courts in Broome County. The attorney will counsel and advise tenants on their rights under state and federal law, conduct community outreach, and work to build partnerships with local community organizations. LSCNY will seek additional funding to extend the work of this project.

Qualification: Preferred applicants should be admitted or eligible for admission to the bar of the State of New York.

Salary/Benefits: Starting salary for a New York admitted attorney is from $46,750 to $74,750, depending on relevant experience. We have an excellent benefits package and a generous leave policy. LSCNY pays for bar memberships, attorney registration, and training opportunities, including Mandatory Continuing Legal Education courses.
