The Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc. is seeking candidates for a Legal Assistant position to work in our Regional Immigration Assistance Center in Canandaigua, NY. The ideal candidate will have excellent computer literacy: knowledge of excel, word, remote technology like Zoom and Skype; ability to use databases, and programs to create flyers, posters, newsletters for distribution; and the secretarial skills to draft letters and other correspondence. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and car and willingness to travel to Ontario County or to Buffalo and surrounding counties depending on need; good communication skills and writing ability; an interest in criminal defense and immigration law and the clients served in those fields of law; and an ability to organize CLEs, trainings and community events for attorneys and judges. The ability to speak a language spoken by the region’s noncitizen communities is a plus. Paralegal degree and Paralegal/Legal Assistant experience preferred.
