OUTREACH AND EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Position - Temporary full-time Paralegal/Nutrition Outreach and Education
Coordinator serving Albany County - 8/12/19 to 10/1/19.
Responsibilities - The Temporary Paralegal / Nutrition Outreach and Education
Coordinator will meet with potential SNAP recipients at community locations
around Albany County. Job duties include
prescreening clients for possible SNAP eligibility, assisting clients in
completing the SNAP application process and/or maintaining their benefits, and
referring clients to other Legal Aid staff for full representation, as
needed. The Nutrition Outreach
coordinator will do outreach and collaborate with other community groups
serving potential SNAP recipients or providing food or feeding services in
Albany County. Responsible for detailed
grant reporting. Regular travel in
Albany County, off site outreach and intake work and limited evening/weekend
hours are required.
Qualifications - Must have attention to detail, be intelligent, hard-working,
careful, reliable, compassionate, have good judgment, and a demonstrated
commitment to the low-income community. Must
be able to communicate effectively with clients and staff. Must have relevant experience, paralegal
certificate or college degree. Must be
able to work well as part of a team.
Must have a car and a clean, valid driver's license and should possess
good computer skills. Strong preference
for candidate who is fluent in Spanish.
Previous relevant experience, including experience with the SNAP program
or media/communication activities, and/or B.A. degree is preferred.
Salary:
$18.25 per hour
