The Western New York Law Center has an immediate opening for a Paralegal.
The paralegal will work with homeowners facing foreclosure of their homes, and with other projects including our CLARO consumer program and our initiatives on zombie homes.
Requirements: College degree, and/or relevant work experience, as well as a commitment to helping poor and disadvantaged people.
Duties will include initial client intake interviews, factual investigation of clients' cases, legal research, preparing legal documents, and communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts. The Paralegal's duties may also include grant administration. Applicants must have excellent legal advocacy and writing skills. Applicants must be willing to get out in the community and help build effective working relationships with community organizations, private attorneys, and government agencies. Proficiency in languages other than English is desired, but is not required.
