Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Human Resources

 

Rochester, NY- Exempt position, Part-time (approximately 21 hours per week)

 

Empire Justice Center, a highly respected, statewide nonprofit law firm, is seeking a Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Human Resources to join our team. We achieve our successes through direct legal representation and high impact litigation, legislative and administrative advocacy, and by providing training and technical assistance to other advocates who are working towards the same goals.

The Position:

 

This is a new leadership level position within the organization responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to expand, strengthen, improve and monitor diversity, equity and inclusion goals at every level within the organization. This Vice President will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion plan to include clear objectives, goals and strategies for the recruitment, retention and promotion of diverse staff, development and assessment of organization-wide D&I training programs that promote diversity within the organization, and the development and collection of data metrics to monitor and report on overall D&I efforts. The VP for DIHR will provide overall direction and guidance to the human resource department, supervise HR staff and be an active member of the Leadership Team.

 

 

 

Skills:

 

  • Project management experience in assessing, identifying, and implementing programming based on the needs of the organization;

  • Proven leadership skills;

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience;

  • Demonstrated experience of career focus on Diversity and Inclusion programs and training;

  • Proven team player that can lead and implement D&I programs in the middle of organizational change;

  • Ability to shift priorities while working in a fast paced environment with multiple competing objectives;

  • Effective decision making skills that balance overall organizational and leadership objectives with employee needs;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required;
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships and to work with a diverse workforce.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Master�s Degree in Human Resources  highly desired;
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on Diversity and Inclusion and at least 5 years in a senior leadership role;
  • Documented leadership skills in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines related to employment, affirmative action and civil rights;
  • Experience in identifying, creating, and implementing diversity and inclusion programming;  
  • Experience in legal services or a law firm desired;
  • Willingness and ability to travel to offices across the state;
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Salary is commensurate with experience and based on the organization's salary scale.
