STAFF ATTORNEY: ICAN Project

 

Staff Attorney to assist persons with Medicaid and/or Medicare long term care, either at home or in a skilled nursing center.  Position includes extensive informal advocacy, written appeals, and administrative hearings.  Participation in community education, home and hospital visits are also expected.  Staff attorney to serve clients in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

 

START DATE: Immediate

 

SALARY:      $51,519 DOE

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Admission to the New York State Bar.  Applicants who have passed the State Bar and are pending admission will also be considered.  Applicants who have taken the exam and are waiting to hear the results may be considered.  Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English will be viewed favorably. Applicant needs a demonstrated commitment to the goals and clients of the legal services program.  Strong research and writing skills necessary.
