Duties include representation of psychiatrically disabled clients in a variety of civil matters, before administrative agencies and various courts. Matters commonly handled include housing, Social Security Disability, Family Court cases and access to health care. Duties also include interviewing clients, engaging in community outreach, providing community legal education and keeping statistical information. The attorney must be willing to handle many cases on an emergency basis.
REQUIREMENTS: Nassau Suffolk Law Services is a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to low-income households. Bilingual proficiency is a plus. Applicants are expected to bring a commitment to the representation of the low-income population. Admission to the New York State Bar, or having passed New York State Bar Examination, is preferred.

SALARY: $50,250 DOE
