FULL-TIME STAFF ATTORNEY
Nassau Suffolk Law Services Committee, Inc. is seeking a full-time staff attorney for a project to represent low-income cancer patients and survivors, and their dependent children in Suffolk County. The project provides legal representation and advice with an emphasis on basic survival issues such as public benefits including but not limited to Social Security, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps; housing issues; health and disability insurance; medical debt; child and/or spousal support; and dependent guardianships. The attorney is expected to handle the case from intake, through trial or hearing, and appeal if necessary.
REQUIREMENTS: Nassau Suffolk Law Services is a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to low-income households. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus. Applicants are expected to bring a commitment to the representation of the low-income population. Admission to the New York State Bar, or having passed New York State Bar Examination, is preferred.
START DATE: Immediate
SALARY: $50,250 DOE
