Housing Attorney
SUMMARY BOOM!Health's Legal Services Program provides free legal assistance to low-income Bronx families, as well as Bronx residents who are living with HIV/AIDS. The Housing Attorney provides legal advice and direct representation to clients at risk of eviction, living in substandard housing or otherwise at risk of homelessness in all housing court proceedings and appeals, and in hearings before administrative agencies. 

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of relevant legal experience and a demonstrated commitment to working with low-income families and individuals and/or persons living with HIV/AIDS. The successful candidate must be a conscientious self-starter and be able to work independently, as well as work successfully in a team environment. The individual will be responsible for working with a number of attorneys simultaneously in an active litigation practice. S/he must be comfortable working under pressure of deadlines, and have an ability to manage a large number of cases and emergencies simultaneously. The ability to multi-task is critical. Prior knowledge or experience with housing law matters is required; knowledge or experience with HIV/AIDS and/or public benefits is preferred. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Juris doctor degree and New York State bar admission (in good standing) is required. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel required. BOOM!Health offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits and a rewarding job environment.
